Dolphin MPS - Microcurrent Point Stimulation
The Dolphin Neurostim is the world’s first device specifically designed for to reduce sympathetic stress for the reduction of soft tissue pain. A gentle microcurrent impulse is applied through the skin, similar to a TENS machine, but with less current, to key neurological points. The procedure reduces nervous system stress to relax muscles and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. Find out more.
Scar Release Therapy - Using Dolphin MPS
Painful scars can be treated with the Dolphin MPS system which will relax and release the adhesions in the underlying fascia. A scar release session is up to an hour and scars older than 2 years will require only one treatment. Multiple scars may require more sessions. Scars less than 2 years old may require "touch-ups" as they continue to age and potentially create symptoms again.
Mood Disorder Support
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP). These approaches are effective in helping clients experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Clients learn to manage symptoms and develop strategies to overcome the functional challenges associated with the symptoms, to return to the activities previously enjoyed. I use a collaborative approach to help examine the barriers to function and working with you to set achievable weekly goals.
Exposure Therapy
Traumatic events, either single or cumulative, can lead to a variety of symptoms such as avoidance and hyperarousal. These symptoms can create significant barriers to engaging in your everyday activities. By working with you to create graded exposure to your triggers, I can help you succeed in getting back to “feeling like you” again. I am also happy to consult with any other providers you might be working with for a combined therapeutic approach.
Ergonomic Assessments
Whether working from home or office, I can visit your workspace to assess for risks of musculoskeletal injury. I will provide recommendations to help you achieve safe ergonomic postures so you can work comfortably and productively.
Return to Work Planning
This service is mainly provided to insurance companies whose claimants are away from the workplace for a variety of physical or mental health reasons. I can provide assessment of functional status, identify barriers to return to work and provide recommendations to facilitate a successful return to work. Oversight of the transition back to the workplace can be provided to support the claimant as well. Treatment is also offered in the above outlined areas for claimants. I can provide support at home, in the workplace, or any location as chosen by the client.
Home Safety / Home Modification
If you or a loved one are having mobility challenges at home I can visit and provide recommendations to help reduce or eliminate barriers, thereby increasing safety. I have good working relationships with many vendors and contractors who can do the building modifications or equipment installation and can refer you to them if desired. If you are eligible for Residential Access Modification Program (RAMP), I can help guide you through the process. If it’s small safety equipment to improve transfers and general mobility, I can help you navigate and apply for assistance through Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL), a program for all Albertans to access funding support for mobility and home safety equipment.
